This Guy's A Lakers Fan Shirt

summer: Toy Noria

Today I will tell you how to build a simple water wheel toy, with natural materials, simple tools and entertaining results.
This toy wheel is particularly suitable for the summer holidays with young children. In fact it is so simple that even a child can build with some help and supervision of an adult, which can become a good hobby for a desktop in the field. can be constructed using only a knife. I used a multi-purpose saw, so I became more beautiful finishes, but except for aesthetics do not need anything more than a sharp knife.

Materials:
"Two sticks of about 10 millimeters thick and about 2 feet long. Very important that are not dry, it is necessary flexibility in the wood to build the wheel. Do not pull up a live tree branches, only those who have already fallen alone. "Two sticks Y-axis support. "Something
bark.
I made this wheel in the Pyrenees, so all the wood I used is has , but just any wood.
-A stream to ride the Ferris wheel

:-) Here are two photos, one of the materials picked up at first said what was helpful, and one which I ended up using, ready to ride.

First Assembly. Peel the two sticks, cut the same length, and cut it in half one of them. Watch your fingers in this part.

Segundo. With the knife, leaning on something solid, and perhaps with the help of a stone, we stick the knife carefully in half the long stick. Once we have the conveyed, turn the blade 90 degrees to force open the timber. Then do the same at right angles, and we've got 4 segments in the middle of the pole. This is the step that requires as essential that the wood is still flexible, very dry wood will split.

Having made the two slits, and with the help of the knife, insert the 2 short sticks, one for each slot, so remaining balance. The result will look like this:

Third: Cut the crust to get 4 similar segments. It should have picked up some extra crust because it is almost certain to break a piece.

Now we very carefully cut the ends of short sticks, and using the knife, open it slightly to insert the pieces of bark, one at each end, and respecting the curvature, so that all pointing in the same direction.
The result is the rotor finish:

The wheel can be removed with care, for example (as I did) to build at the camp and then transported in a backpack to the place of assembly.
Here I am making it to ride and doing some last minute adjustments.

ready for use.

Now I have to find a stream not too upset, or some corner of a river where there is soft power, and ride! The two clubs are stuck in Y, separating what is necessary to avoid dropping the rotor, and placing them so that they are symmetrical to the center of the stream.

finish!

I had to add capped with stones, because the rotor would rotate slowly moving toward that side, and would have fallen within 1 minute.

Passing the relevant inspection.

And now two videos of the wheel in action, recorded
a mobile phone, so sorry for the bad video quality.

The wheel mounted in the Pyrenees, near the bridge San Nicolas de Bujaruelo , late August 2010, if by chance you saw her, I'd love to know :-)
